After a successful 18th edition, Art-Athina - the International Contemporary Art Fair of Athens, is back with its 19th edition that will take place on 15-18 May 2014 at the Faliro Pavilion.
Art-Athina was launched in 1993 by the Hellenic Art Galleries Association with a view to showcase selected Greek and international galleries as well as organising important parallel art events and offer further value to the fair. Art-Athina 2013 was held with great success last May, sending out a message of optimism, despite a difficult economic climate. The country’s most important annual event in visual art was enthusiastically received by some 30,000 visitors. Art Athina 2013 was a comprehensive show in terms of both structure and content. The valuable art galleries from Greece and abroad were joined in harmony by cultural institutions, art publishers and media to present a full picture of the contemporary art scene.
Art-Athina, being the most prominent annual artistic event in Greece has, since its inception, the moral and material support from the Ministry of Culture, and is co-funded by the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework - ESPA) for the years 2013-2014.

CUTLOG NEW YORK ART FAIR
Group exhibition @ The Clemente - New York (USA)
Cutlog contemporary art fair is pleased to announce its second New York edition from May 8-11, 2014. 50 galleries and curators will present art, installations, performances, talks, and films in a creative, architecturally designed environment which allows each art project to have its own identity and a unique art interaction with the public.
Cutlog NY will focus on showing cutting-edge and established galleries that promote the work of contemporary artists. The fair aims to foster new relationships between galleries, collectors and art institutions, forming a collaborative platform for building new perspectives on contemporary art. Cutlog NY aims to be a creative laboratory, showcasing works by artists from all over the world and offering them the opportunity to gain global visibility.
Cutlog is thrilled to announce its return to the Clemente, a magnificent Dutch Neo-Gothic building and the Lower East Side’s premier cultural venue. Recent years have seen a dramatic shift in New York, with more than 110 galleries opening between Canal and Houston in the Lower East Side. The area has transformed into a key meeting point for international artists and collectors, also serving as the first stop connecting the burgeoning North Brooklyn artistic scene to Manhattan. With this geographical shift, a new breed of artists has gained a presence within an increasingly globalized market, disrupting norms.
Each of the 50 exhibitors will present an original project featuring one or more works by artists selected by a jury of professionals. A selection of sculptures and installations will be displayed in the Clemente building and courtyard. A film festival and a series of performances will be presented as an extension of the projects presented within the booths.

Group exhibition @ Anatomy Museum - London (ENGLAND)
Within the ‘walls’ of The Gallery the possibilities are endless: an artist could create a stage for performance, a café, a creative workshop, a cinema, a space for meditation, a gallery within a gallery or a hub of artistic exchanges using social media, video conferencing or live streaming. Some artists may choose to host receptions or talks to wrap up their exhibitions.
Over the course of 11 days and 16 collaborative artistic projects, King’s College London will be transformed into a hub of creative exchanges and an ephemeral festival between artists and audiences, both local and global.
The Gallery project is a re-examination of the relationship between contemporary galleries and art, the participation of artists and audiences and how we consider site-specific art. Theatrical performance, live art, new media, sound and moving images as well as traditional visual art combine to explore the presentation of an exhibition in an unconventional approach.

Two-person exhibition @ Ar(t)kaden - Zürich (SWITZERLAND)
Art TV presents East-West, by Swiss artist Al Meier & Australian artist Thomas C. Chung.
Traversing mediums with differing aesthetics these two artists are exhibiting some of their most well-known pieces, in an exhibition which brings together artistic practices separated by culture and landscape. Beginning their careers as painters, Al Meier is considered by connoisseurs as the "Gerhard Richter of Switzerland", while Thomas C. Chung has impressively built upon his continuous narrative.
The title of this show suggests a meeting of ideals, a chance encounter of an established and emerging artist. With an undeniable display of precision and skill Meier's use of paint alludes as a vessel for consciousness and existence, alongside Chung's playful textile sculptures and installations created from yarn and craft-like materials.
A starting point for this exhibition would be seen through their search of a 'truth' and 'timelessness' - with the former choosing shapes, lines, substrates and the spiritual while the latter is giving strength to the quiet and unspoken through the experiences of a child.
Merging distances and space, this is seen as a collaboration between two distinct generations, bringing together a unique display of contemporary art.

Group exhibition @ C-Space - Beijing (CHINA)
The Gallery is a multimedia art project created by Chinese artist Wang Xin in 2013. The Gallery is both functional as an alternative exhibition art space and an art project in the contemporary art context. The Gallery has its own unique characteristics. Although The Gallery cannot be seen as a real art gallery in a legal sense, it has its own almost self-sufficient operating system. Comparing to a regular gallery or exhibition space, The Gallery is different in the following ways:
- The Gallery does not hold onto any works after the exhibitions. All physical art works exhibited in The Gallery would be shredded and destroyed and all the digital files of artworks will be deleted at the end of the exhibitions.
- The Gallery does not have a regular location. The location of The Gallery depends on where The Gallery is shown as an art project. When The Gallery itself as an art project is presented in an art gallery, exhibition space, museum or any other locations, that place would become The Gallery's temporary location during that given time.
- The Gallery does not have regular opening hours. The opening times of The Gallery depend on the opening times of the place where The Gallery is presented.
- For the participates who are unable to attend their own exhibitions, they have the opportunity to monitor them live through The Gallery 's webcam livefeed.
